On Wednesday, 30 January, on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a guided tour of the Jewish Museum of Greece took place in cooperation with the Hospitality Centre for Unaccompanied Minors of the Hellenic Red Cross. The guided tour, which focused on the persecution of the Greek Jews and their experience in the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp, was conducted by Alexandra Patrikiou, JMG historian, and Orietta Treveza, who is responsible for the JMG’s educational programmes. Refugee children aged from 15 to 17 from Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Egypt and Guinea took part, accompanied by three interpreters and Vasilis Lyritsis, coordinator of the centre. The children had been prepared for their visit by Spyridoula Tsoukalas, a teacher at the centre, who gave them relevant educational material (manuals, documentaries and films) that had been provided by the JMG free of charge. A constructive discussion and many questions ensured.
