Visit of the new American Ambassador to Athens

On 15th December 2016, the Museum was visited by Mr. Geoff Pyatt, the new American Ambassador to Athens, his wife Mary and members of the Embassy’s staff, Ms. Daisy Andrianopoulou, the U.S.A. Embassy’s Chief of Protocol and Ms. Doreen Elroy, cultural attaché. They were welcomed by Mr. Samuel Matsas, chairman of the J.M.G. and by Mr. Guy Natan, Chairman of the J.M.G. Association of Friends and treasurer of the J.M.G.’s BoD, as well as by the J.M.G.’s Director Ms. Zanet Battinou who showed the ambassadorial couple and their attachés around the permanent exhibition but also around the temporary exhibition. After the tour, Mr. Pyatt was informed about the Museum’s extensive work during conversation with Mr. Matsas and Mr. Natan, and expressed specific interest in its research, its cultural and educational programme and its co-operation with important educational institutions and museums in the United States. He also expressed his interest in the exhibitions on humanitarian matters, in education about the Holocaust as well as in the Museum’s commitment to promote tolerance and to combat racism, xenophobia and discrimination in our country.
