The Holocaust did not begin with ghettos and concentration camps
—it started with words.
This April, with support from nearly 40 participating Holocaust institutions and organizations around the world, including the Jewish Museum of Greece, the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference) announced a new Holocaust survivor-led, digital campaign:#ItStartedWithWords.
Through weekly videos, Holocaust survivors will share their testimoniesof how words of hate andantisemitism preceded the unimaginable horrors of the Holocaust.
#ItStartedWithWords aims to raise awareness of the importance of Holocaust education andexplain how hate speech and antisemitism were the roots that resulted in genocide.
