Teaching about the Holocaust in Greece in Volos
The ninth educational seminar entitled Teaching about the Holocaust in Greece, organised by the Jewish Museum of Greece, took place at Demetriados Monastery Conference Centre at Melissatika, Volos, on Tuesday 11th December. The one-day seminar was designed for primary and secondary education teachers and took place under the auspice of the Ministry of Education, Religion, Culture and Sports, with the support of the General Secretariat for Youth.
The proceedings began with addresses by His Eminence the Metropolitan Bishop Ignatios of Demetriada and Almyros, Mr. G. Kalantzis, G.S. of Religion, Mr. M. Solomon, the President of the J.C. of Volos and Mr. A. Pantsas, deputy mayor of social protection, education and culture. Five speakers of different disciplines gave talks and the proceedings were attended by a total of 42 teachers. The JMG’s educational seminar was the first one to have taken place in the city of Volos.
