Eighth Seminar for teachers

The eighth educational seminar entitled “Teaching about the Holocaust in Greece”, organised by the Jewish Museum of Greece, took place at the Multifunctional Cultural Hall Old Abattoir (Palaia Sfageia) in Ioannina, on Tuesday 13th November. This one-day seminar was designed for primary and secondary education teachers and took place under the auspice of the Ministry of Education, Religion, Culture and Sports, with the support of the General Secretariat for Youth.

The proceedings of the one-day seminar began with short addresses by Mr. P. Kanellopoulos, G.S. of Youth, Mr. G. Kalantzis*, G.S. of Religion, and Mr. M. Elisaf, President of the J.C. and of the Youth Centre of the Municipality of Ioannina. In total, 7 speakers of different professions gave talks (historians, archaeologists, teachers, academics, professors et al), whereas the proceedings were attended by a total of 45 teachers. The JMG’s educational seminar was the first one to have taken place in the city of Ioannina.

* due to an impediment, Mr. G. Kalantzis, G.S. of Religion, was unable to attend and his address was delivered by his associate Mrs. Vasiliki Keramida.
