The Jewish Museum of Greece launched a new two-year program (2021-22) entitled “CHallenging And DebuNkiNg Antisemitic MytHs (HANNAH)” in collaboration with five other partners from four European countries in total: the Jewish Museum of Galicia in Krakow, Poland, Centropa from Hamburg in Germany, Jugend– & Kulturprojekt eV (JKPeV) from Dresden, Germany, ReadLab from Athens and Terraforming from Novi Sad, Serbia. The project, funded by the European Commission, will take place in the framework of the Rights, Equality and Citizenship projects.
The broader goal of the program is to combat anti-Semitism and all forms of racism, through familiarity with the history of Jewish communities, the teaching of the Holocaust and the recording of major anti-Semitic narratives. The program will fund the creation of innovative digital educational products and a documentary on anti-Semitism, training seminars, and interviews with descendants of Holocaust survivors.
The project will promote knowledge of Jewish life and contribute to the better understanding of Jewish traditions, the history and contribution of Jewish people in Europe before and after the Shoah. It will also foster knowledge and education about the Shoah for schoolteachers, librarians, archivists and young people, in the light of dwindling knowledge about the Holocaust.
In this way, the JMG wants to contribute to the strengthening of democratic education and to the dissemination of the values of social equality and justice.
