On Sunday 14th October 2012, in the framework of its participation at the common activity of the Ministry of Education, Religion, Culture and Sports and other organizations of Cultural Heritage, entitled: “Pantechnou pyros selas – Illuminating stories of fire” , the Jewish Museum of Greece Environment & Culture 2012 “Blazing fire, source of arts – Sparkling stories of fire”, offered for free an educational programme for families and a guided tour for adults entitled: “…and there was light” – Sacred illuminating devices in Jewish Art & Culture. Visitors had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the symbolic meaning of the usage of the fire in Jewish religion and culture, by observing selected and rareartefacts from the permanent exhibition of the JMG, through an educational journey in the museum.
