Official Visit

On Wednesday 18 September 2019,  Mr. Konstantinos Gioulekas MP of Thessaloniki, Chairman of the Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs of the Parliament, visited the Jewish Museum of Greece, accompanied by Dr. Ilias Pesach, a member of the World Jewish Congress Jewish Diplomatic Corps.

Mr. Gioulekas was welcomed by the president of the BoD of the Museum, Mr. Samuel (Makis) Matsas and the Museum’s director Ms. Zanet Battinou, who offered a guided tour to the special guests. At the end of the tour, Mr. Gioulekas was informed of the Museum’s mission and priorities, while he expressed particular interest in the Museum’s educational programs and exhibitions, in the Holocaust Education and the Museum’s commitment to promoting tolerance and combating racism, xenophobia and discrimination in our society.

He was particularly interested in the military memorabilia on display in the permanent exhibition and the Museum’s research on the participation of Greek Jews in the Resistance, as his personal interest and thorough involvement with the War Museum of Thessaloniki is commonly known.
