On 14th September 2011, 32 members of the Jewish Federations of North America visited Jewish Museum of Greece.
The President of the JMG Mr. Samuel Matsas welcomed them and prepared them for the guided tour that followed. Among others, Mr. Matsas made the following comments: “… While you are looking at the treasures of the Romaniote and Sephardic traditions in the Museum displays, please, bear in mind that this is a teaching institution as well. Further to our extensive research work, and exhibitions, travelling all over Europe and North America, our Museum fills an important post in the social endeavour for human equality and justice. We receive hundreds of schools every year. We inform hundreds of young minds about the Jewish history, tradition and culture….”
Next, Mrs. Zanet Battinou, director of the JMG, welcomed the distinguished visitors and guided them through the museum. She discussed with them, answered their questions on the JMG’s artefacts, its programs and activities.
Τhe guided tour was followed by a speech by Mrs Rozina Asser - Pardo on her personal experience as a hidden child during the occupation years. The attendees had the opportunity to have a look at the diary she kept during that period.
